Symbolism of the five light mandalas:
Ancient petroglyphs of Gobustan come to our world through the works of contemporary artists in an exhibition exploring the roots of human existence.

On November 10, 2024, the Nine Senses Art Center in Baku will host the research exhibition "Codes of Gobustan", organized by the Nine Senses Art Center, curated by Gobustan shaman Tarlan Manafov, with the sponsorship of AZBRAND.

The event includes a research part in the form of five light mandalas assembled from elements of ancient Gobustan rock signs and their manifestation in the works of a contemporary artist, as well as the premiere of a film shot in Gobustan locations.

The impetus for the entire project was the unique painting by the artist Mahatma Roerich "Zoroaster". At the request of the Zoroastrians from Mumbai, the great enlightened master depicted Zarathustra in the artist's homeland - in Azerbaijan.
We discovered that this place is Gobustan. In this painting, Nicholas Roerich also conveys the mystery of the cosmic rays of creation of divine light, which the ancient artists of Gobustan, the shamans, depicted many millennia before on the same rock where Zarathustra stood.

An important part of the Gobustan Code project and the exhibition exposition was the film by director Togrul Avshar, showing this place and moment, telling about the activation of this tradition through a modern artist.
The event invites visitors to immerse themselves in the study, where the ancient archetypal codes of Gobustan come to the surface, offering a new understanding of the origin of man and art. Thus, the artist himself becomes a conductor, an activator, a “fifth element” with the help of which the ancient archetype is carried into the world.

The exhibition "Gobustan Codes" combines scientific and spiritual approaches to the study of the origin of man and art. The exhibition presents five petroglyphs of Gobustan, which became the basis for the creation of five light mandalas - modern interpretations of ancient symbols combined with elements of the artist's works.
